Hi everyone! ♡ Hope all is well! So today was my first day of high school- omg~ I made a Get Ready With Me video but, the quality isn't very good so I don't know if I'm going to upload it tbh. Anyways,
I wanted to quickly type down everything that happened today (17.8.16), while it's still fresh in my mind.
So, I woke up at 6am- it takes a while for a girl to get ready! My fam always drives me to school the first day of school, it's like a family tradition, and I had to be out the door at 7 since school starts at 7:45 and it's like a 20 min drive. I first had breakfast obvi, I had cornflakes but for some reason I just couldn't eat... Is anyone else like that when they're nervous? Like, I had to legit force-feed myself.
But, omg out of all days today I had my period- so I'm just like "seriously? why?!?" I had to wear a dress too so I was like really mad but oh well- I sucked it up. After that fiesta, I brushed my teeth and did my makeup. Really simple: BB Cream, powder, brows, mascara, and lip tint. Wildly brushed through my hair and put on my outfit.
This was the dress I wore! ^^ It's frm Forever 21, the cardigan is from TJMaxx. There's a cutout near the top so I was worried I might get dress coded but, I didn't so that's good. :) I didn't take any full pics so unfortunately this is the only pic have of the dress itself. :/
I also bought this really cute earring set at Forever 21 and wore the huge white pearls with my outfit. I think it really brought out the vintage feel in the outfit.
Here's a so-so pic of me and my brother Minho on our first day! :) He agreed to go for a 1950s inspired look with me and he slicked his hair back and everything. :)
So, we were running late so unfortunately we couldn't take any pictures. I was so anxious the car ride to school. I had to take my tennis bag with me cuz I have practice after school. I had my hands full! My mom helped me take all my stuff into the building. Okay, so we have two different buildings- one for freshmen and the main one for sophomores and upper classmen. I had to go to the freshmen building first to put away everything in my locker. Then find my 7th period class to negotiate if I could keep my tennis bag there- luckily that teacher is really nice so she let me. :) I was srsly panting when I reached her room!
I then rushed to the main building cuz my first period (French 1) is there but when I got there, the teacher said I had to go to homeroom first for the whole week! No one told me about that! So I rushed back to the Freshman building- found my homeroom then stayed there for like 5 minutes then went back to the main building for first period. But, luckily I found two friends to walk with since they were in my class so that's good. :)
My French teacher is also a Spanish teacher so everything in the class was in Spanish. But, her French was pretty good- I think lol. We then chose our "French names'' to use during class. I chose the name "Nadine" cuz Nadine Lustre is goals obvi. And we did like those boring intro to the class and rules, expectations, etc.
I went back to the Freshmen building for second period which is Scholarship English /Language Arts. My teacher appears to be a nice, old lady who LOVES the St.Louis Cardinals. We played to cliché "Getting to Know You Bingo Game" where basically you walk around the room asking classmates if they are like allergic to peanuts or something like that- if they are they sign their name on the bingo square and you're on your way to a bingo! I met a lot of nice kids (some whom I already knew) thru the game and it was a great ice breaker. I can already tell my ELA class is going to be lit. lol
I mean, when you see signs like these in the hallways- you can already tell your school is awesome.
Third period is art, which is a few doors down from ELA so that's a relief. My art teacher is amazing- she actually is an artist and is really a care-free and super nice spirit. I mean, I really love art- I love to draw and paint and I feel like all the art teachers I've had never really did art themselves. I'm glad I have such an amazing teacher. She gave us our first sketchbook assignment today (19.8.16), and I'm so excited!
Fourth period is downstairs- Advanced Physical Science. I'm a naturally inquisitive person so obvi I really go well with science. But, I feel like my science teacher is a little boring. Like, when he talks- you just suddenly feel really tired and you wanna fall asleep. Yeah. He's that teacher.
Next was lunch! Yay! I have last lunch but luckily I had a friend in science who walked to my locker with me to grab my lunch bag. My locker is right next to the cafeteria so that's convenient. :) Okay, so there are two middle schools in my district- Middle School A, which I went to 6th grade, and Middle School B, which I went to 7th & 8th grade. I didn't have any trouble finding a table to sit at since I knew quite a few people. I sat with a nice group of girls- a mix of both MSA and MSB and we had a blast! :) I brought like healthy Malaysian food cuz I was on my period so yeah. I also had to leave lunch a few minutes only because I have to walk to the main building for my next class.
Period 5 is Acting 1. I love theatre so much and I'm really excited to learn more about it! The class is mainly full of sophmores but there's a decent amount of freshmen too. My teacher is quite a character- he's very lively and does a great job at keeping his class awake. He has us up and moving 24/7- I love his class already!
6th Period is Advanced World History. My teacher is like one of those down-to-earth, cool and chill teacher that all the kids like. He really likes reggae music and is really good at memorizing names. The class was quite impressed! ^.^
Last period aka 7th period is Scholarship Geometry, the teacher is really nice so far- and is decently entertaining for a math teacher. She's the teacher that let me keep my tennis bag in her room! :)
And after school I had tennis practice, school gets out at 3:45 but I didn't get home until 6. And at the end of the day I was exhausted! Luckily I didn't have any homework and my parents were the ones who had to fill out forms. :)
Me and my tennis buddy! :) Hope you don't mind being on the internet JB! haha srry
quick differences between high school and middle school:
-more dating: In high school it's really common to see couples holding hands or cuddling with one another during free time. At my middle school if you even high-fived a boy you had a detention (exaggeration but, you get the point.) High school PDA (Public Display of Affection) is VERY common.
-more drama/gossip: rumors seem to fly even faster in high school, be careful and try to stay away from as much drama/gossip as possible- you'll thank me later.
-more opportunities: in high school there's so many clubs and cool classes, I'm sooo glad I pursued my own interests cuz I already met a ton of amazing people and I'm actually having so much fun at school so far! :)
-more variety: I feel like there's more of a variety of different kinds of people in high school in comparison to middle school. Is it just me?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So yeah! That was my first day of school- thrown in with a few third day of school experiences cuz it's Day 3 of Freshmen year for me! If you wanna leave any high school experiences or you're a freshmen too or just have a random question- don't be afraid to comment down below! This post is more like a diary entry but whateves hope you enjoyed! <3
xoxo,
Naeun
